Tech Boom in Fitness, Fashion & Health

Tech is a hot topic in fitness, fashion and health more than ever these days. It's drastically changing these industries with more advanced fabrics, lighter and more funtional parts, more accurate tracking and motion sensors, and overall cooler customization. It's really amazing to see all the companies being born out of these kind of technological advancements. Technology spells OPPORTUNITY! I've been covering technology in fitness, fashion and health over the last 5 months and I really hope you enjoy these trend reports. The reason I find them so relevant is because by 2020, wearable technology alone with generate over 20 billion dollars in revenue. And I'm not talkin' pedometers! The category continues to evolve and expand beyond the fitness tracker we're all familiar with. It's a new tech-y world out there. Enjoy these recaps and please let me know what you think! This piece is from TechstyleNYC 2016 which just took place during New York Fashion Week on February 16th,...

Controversial Women Are Beautiful

I've always been a little controversial because I've never enjoyed sharing the opinion of many. I like to come to my own conclusions and I'm not afraid to stand out in a crowd. I take a lot of criticism for being an outspoken Republican (I'm NOT anti-gay marriage or pro-life though), for wearing waist trainers and even for making a living off of social media. If I ever had thin skin it definitely thickened up. People are always judging but that's OK, I enjoy the path less traveled if it sparks my curiosity. And yes, I've kissed a girl, but who hasn't? In all aspects of life, I'm drawn to women who take a stand on issues, don't care about being labeled a freak and just come out and say whatever it is they feel needs to be said. They're unicorns. I have 2 that I want to bring to your attention. There's Mar Ortiz who I discovered when her instagram selfie went viral. I was asked to comment on it. Watch the news segment below... Chef Robert Irvine Didn't Bite My Head Off!

Chef Robert Irvine is a really sweet guy even though he can come off as quite tough on his Food Network shows. I was so honored to interview him about his new book Fit Fuel and shift into fitness because I've been a fan of his for years and an avid watched of every Impossible show he's done. What I didn't capture in this interview is how much he adores his wife Gail Kim who is a professional wrestler and fitness lover. She's clearly a major inspiration to him. During the interview, Gail called him and you better believe he picked up his phone to take the call. So right in the middle of our interview, I got to see this "softy" side of him.  I could've cared less that we had to backtrack a bit and start the question over because I was overjoyed to see that a fitness woman melts Chef's heart. Please watch my interview with the Food Network's popular host and chef, Robert Irvine, and enter to win an autographed copy of his new Fit Fuel book by leaving a comment below or on...

Going Faceless with Artist Josh Tk

I found Josh Tk on instagram. His faceless photography is mysteriously beautiful and compelling. You can't just look at one picture. You'll eventually find yourself clicking on every square on his instagram profile much like I did. To my delight, I discovered that Josh Tk is from my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. So I reached out to him to express my fandom and whadayaknow, he's the nicest guy on earth! Josh invited me to shoot a few faceless pics with him and told me to pick the location. I chose one of my favorite spots to walk through in St. Louis: Concordia Seminary. It has a quiet, gothic feel to it, and my hunch was that Josh would dig it as a backdrop. These are the pictures he shot. Now, I'm going to tell you what they mean. Josh started the faceless photography project a few years ago as a creative outlet. By the time his photographs started getting noticed through social media, it was already a passion project. There are 3 main themes driving his art:...

Why I Love Barre + Best Barre Methods

Barre is a workout I do weekly because I love the results I get! I recently went on Great Day St. Louis to talk about my obsession with barre. Watch the video below from my segment or CLICK HERE.   Barre classes first came about in a big way in the 1950's on account of ballerina Lotte Berk. Her prodigees went on to turn barre fitness into a successful business of popular, packed classes. Michelle Austin, founder of the Fluidity Barre, was one of her students among others like Exhale founder Fred Devito, who I interviewed HERE. Barre fitness is all about using small movements to work trouble spots and tone every inch of your body by working multiple muscles in unison. The exercises are NOT easy. You will most likely discover parts of your body that you never knew were possible to work out or even move. And that's a good thing because it usually means THEY NEED WORK! There are many variations of Lotte Berks original barre concept, which are taught in fitness...

The Habits of Go-Getters

I recently participated in a wonderful interview series that's making its debut right now. It's called The Habits of Go-Getters interview summit. A really astounding young lady and go-getter herself, Katya Meyers, created the interview series to share what happens behind the scenes in the lives of successful health & wellness oriented professionals. I'm honored to be a part of her series and my interview is LIVE and ready to be heard by clicking RIGHT HERE. You'll receive a recording link once you're all signed up. And yes, it's FREE! Before you give a listen though, I want to share my thoughts on what Katya Meyers is doing. When Katya first reached out to me and shared a bit of her life with me, I was really impressed with her background and how she left a traditional career path to pursue an endeavor her heart was stuck on (racing). But most of all, I was struck by how Katya took the time to create her Go-Getter Series and visualized something extremely collaborative that...
